Jo Mabbutt is a decorative artist combining gilding, hand printing and painting to bring new life to antique and vintage lace and crochet.
She uses various gilding techniques to create contemporary framed pieces, jewellery, fashion and interior accessories, cards and Christmas decorations.
'Lace is my inspiration and main material; using antique and vintage lace to refashion into precious pieces appeals to me.
Intuitive exploration with materials has resulted in contemporary surface treatments, which gives my pieces a new fragility with jewel-like qualities.'
Jo collaborates with other designers who incorporate her materials into hats, fashion pieces and accessories.
She also works to commission gilding and framing clients' treasured lace and producing framed and decorative pieces for show homes, private interiors and wedding anniversaries.
